Non-Alcohol Cocktails (or a lack thereof)
Like a lot of Salt Lake City natives, Drømme founder David Lund didn’t drink alcohol growing up. Therefore, he was not very familiar with bar or cocktail culture until he moved away from Utah. What he found when he moved to California was that while he loved the social aspect of grabbing a drink, he did not love the limited non-alcoholic cocktail options.
Outside of Utah, going out to the bar or having parties centered around alcohol is a regular part of socializing. And, if you have ever been among the few who do not drink alcohol then you know that your drink options are limited in these situations.
Diet Coke anyone? How about a club soda with lime?
Now don’t come for us, we know SLC keeps Diet Coke in business (and we love you for it). There are also times when a clean crisp club soda with lime hits just right. Just not, every.single.time.
However, every single time David went out while living in California, these were the only options available.
Bored and frustrated with his lack of inspired drink options, but still wanting to participate in the social aspect of “going out for a drink,” the seeds of a non-alcoholic cocktail were planted in David’s mind.
Why Drømme
Drinking at home became the only option for the country in the early days of Covid. And with extra time on our hands, a lot of us started exploring the world of craft cocktails (in between perfecting our artisan sourdough loaves, of course).
While a lot of the country was sticking to the hard stuff (hello, quarantine), other people were starting to explore non-alcohol spirits and drinks. Including David.
Taking notice that zero proof drinks were popping up more and more online, David decided it was time to circle back to the seed he had planted. So, amidst the throws of a changing Covid world, he started to explore his ideas for zero proof drinks that were fun, full of flavor, and inspiring.
After several rounds of mixing flavors and testing different combinations, David found himself not only with two delicious and inspiring zero proof mixers, but with a new business!
Meet Drømme
The first thing we asked David when we spoke to him was, “how do you pronounce Drømme?” Drømme is a Dutch word and in English, the “e” is pronounced “a.”
It is pronounced DrommA (long O, short A), and it means, “To Dream.”
The name was inspired by the time that David spent living in Denmark where he fell in love with the culture, language, and country. He especially enjoyed the way that people embraced socializing and spending time together. A place where it is common for dinner to last 3 to 4 hours!
Who is Drømme For?
A lot of people assume that if you live in Salt Lake City and don’t drink alcohol, then you are Mormon. Maybe you are, maybe you aren’t. Drømme doesn't care and neither do we. You do you!
Whether you choose not to drink alcohol for religious reasons or personal reasons, that is your business. Drømme is simply in the business of providing a delicious option for you to enjoy a craft cocktail and socialize with friends, without compromising who you are.

Drømme: Flavor and Function
The intention behind the flavors of Drømme was to create complex flavors that could be used to make fun and inspired drinks. While the initial intention was to make drinks that support and encourage socializing without alcohol, David also wanted to make drinks that were good for you.
Therefore, both mixers by Drømme include a blend of herbs, vitamins, and adaptogens,
that are good for the body and mind.
Drømme AWAKE
Awake is a light drink that is perfect for making fruit-based cocktails or enjoying on its own. Its primary flavor is made from a blend of Beet Sugar, Pomegranate Molasses, Watermelon Juice Concentrate, Organic Guava Leaf Extract, Szechuan Pepper Extract, and Hibiscus.
In addition to the complex flavor components, Awake has several functional ingredients. A few key ones are Ashwagandha Root Extract and Lion’s Mane Mushroom Extract.
Drømme CALM
Calm has a powerful flavor kick that is bolder than Awake. This comes from its primary flavor components: Organic Ginger Root Extract and Organic Maple Syrup. In addition, it has notes of Lemon Balm, Cloves, and Vanilla.
The purpose of Calm is to help the body and mind relax at the end of the day. Therefore, there are several helpful vitamins and herbs included in this blend to help you wind down. Some of these are Magnesium Citrate, Hop Essence, Valerian Root Extract, L-Theanine, 5-HTP, Ashwagandha Root Extract, Hydromeric® Water-Soluble Turmeric Extract, Lion’s Mane Mushroom Extract, Calcium Disodium EDTA, White Willow Bark Extract
How to Drink Drømme
